I have been teaching this course since 2001. I took over the classes after my husband - Denton Belk - passed. I had collected fairy shrimp with him his entire career and have published a few papers with him. Training new biologists is very important to preservation of fairy shrimp and vernal pools.
I have a Master's Degree from the University of Guam in Biology finished in 1971. I felt the classes needed more improvement so in 2010 I completed a Master's Degree in Education, Adult Education and Training, from the University of Phoenix in San Antonio, Texas.
My mission is to embrace the pursuit of excellence both inside and outside the classroom. I want you to be dedicated to the fairy shrimp and vernal pool preservation when you finish this class. I will push you to reach this goal but you must come with your A game to achieve our combined goal.
